Vancouver – Sociologist and author Michael Kimmel will lecture on his new book “Angry White Men: American Masculinity at the End of an Era,” at 7 p.m. Oct. 12 at Washington State University Vancouver.

The presentation will be held in Room 110 in the Dengerink Administration Building. A meet-and-greet will follow. The event is free and open to the public.

Kimmel, a professor of sociology and gender studies at Stony Brook University in New York, will discuss why men seem angry, and the different groups that organize and express that anger. Topics will include men’s rights groups, workplace violence, angry white boys and the extreme right wing, according to a news release.

Kimmel has written nearly a dozen books on gender and masculinity and founded the Center for the Study of Men and Masculinities at Stony Brook University. He has also delivered International Women’s Day lectures at the European Parliament, the European Commission and the Council of Europe, the news release said.

Free event parking is available after 6:30 p.m. in the Orange 2 lot.
