County outdoor burn ban lifted on Oct. 1

Vancouver – The Clark County Fire Marshal will lift a burn ban on outdoor clearing starting Saturday. The ban on recreational fires was lifted earlier this month.

Fall weather conditions reduced wildfire risk to levels deemed adequate by fire officials. Regional burn bans typically last from July 15 to Oct. 1.

Residents must follow all outdoor burn regulations and burn permit requirements. Campfires are allowed in improved fire pits in designated campgrounds. On private land, recreational fires must be built in proper metal, stone or masonry pits no larger than three feet in diameter. Fires must also be 25 feet away from a structure or other combustible material. They must be accompanied at all times by someone at least 16 years old who can properly extinguish the fire.

Burn barrels are illegal.

More information on outdoor burning rules is available at: www.clark.wa.gov/development/fire/burning.html.

Anyone with questions can call the Fire Marshal’s Office at 360-397-2186.
