Volunteer Connections provides opportunities through the Human Services Council.

American Red Cross of Southwest Washington is seeking volunteers to help as canteen assistants, blood drive ambassadors and blood couriers.

City of Vancouver Parks and Recreation seeks front desk assistants at the Firstenburg Center to provide general information to walk-in and telephone customers, and to check out recreation equipment.

Clark County Genealogical Society is looking for volunteers to help others learn about their family history. Training by experienced librarians will be provided.

Columbia Springs seeks volunteers to assist with activities at its Stewardship Saturday events every Saturday throughout the year.

The Salvation Army seeks volunteers in the “Say Klub” after school program to pick children up from school or assist them with projects or homework.

The Salvation Army’s Social Service department also needs clerical volunteers to answer calls.

The Clark County Food Bank depends on volunteers to help feed hungry Clark County residents. The greatest needs are for:

Food collectors to drive or ride in a 20-foot box truck to Clark County grocery stores, 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. weekdays, filling out donation slips and lifting 40- to 50-pound boxes. A commercial driver’s license is not required. A commitment of two shifts per month is requested.

Food sorters to work one or more shift each week, 10 a.m. to noon weekdays, in a refrigerated room.

Receptionists to work one four-hour shift per week, 8 a.m. to noon, or noon to 4 p.m., answering phone calls, filing, entering computer data, greeting guests and doing light cleaning. A six-month commitment is requested.

NatureScaping of Southwest Washington has garden work parties scheduled through the fall, 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays at the Wildlife Botanical Gardens in Brush Prairie. No gardening experience is necessary. Work parties on Tuesdays, or other days if requested, will by arranged by appointment. Information: volunteers@naturescaping.org or call 360-737-1160.
