Local veterans honored by South Korean government

Esther Short — Local Korean War veterans won a special award for outstanding service from the South Korean government. Douglas S. Powers, commander Edward L. Barnes, David P. Vesowate, Harold R. Olson, Robert V. Sumrill and Jerry L. Keesee are members of the Korean War Veterans of Southwest Washington, Richard Quatier Chapter 321. The award was presented for service to veterans, for keeping alive awareness of the Korean War, and advocating for construction of a memorial wall in Washington, D.C., commemorating those killed in the Korean War. They are members of the Korean War Veterans of Southwest Washington.
