Vancouver – Volunteers are invited to help Clark County and the city of Vancouver clean up cigarette butts from county parks.

On Make a Difference Day on Oct. 22, the county and city will host its sixth annual The Butt Stops Here cleanup to remove cigarette butts and other litter from parks.

Volunteers, who must provide their own transportation, will gather at 9 a.m. in the Bud Van Cleve Community Room at Luke Jensen Sports Park at 4000 N.E. 78th St. for an orientation. They’ll then break into small groups to go to various parks and open spaces around the county.

Lunch will be provided at 11:30 a.m. at Luke Jensen Sports Park by Blind Onion Pizza.

Volunteers have removed more than 90 pounds of cigarette butts from parks and open spaces since the first The Butt Starts Here cleanup in 2011.
