Church group fights weeds at farm

Salmon Creek — A rainy Saturday didn’t deter about two dozen Salmon Creek United Methodist Church members, who layered up and spent their day cleaning around the 78th Street Heritage Farm. The group spread wood chips on the pathways to help suppress weeds at the farm, which is home to the Washington State University Extension program, community gardens and allows people to collect food for the Clark County Food Bank. “Everyone was enthusiastic, even in the face of the abnormally wet weather,” Mike Pervere, the church’s lay leader, said in a release from the church. “This blessing blitz was our way of giving back to the community in which it is our privilege to live and serve.”
