In August, the provisional Portland chapter of the national organization of the Satanic Temple began their efforts to bring their After School Satan Club to Nehalem Elementary School. Around the same time, a Seattle chapter of the temple also attempted to bring the program to a school in Washington.
Now, the Portland chapter succeeded in bringing that program to an elementary school inside city limits.
Finn Rezz, one of two heads of the chapter, said via email that the organization has been approved to begin their program, which focuses “on science and rational thinking,” on Oct. 19 at Sacramento Elementary School.
In August, Rezz said that the After School Satan Club will promote “benevolence and empathy for everybody.” That mission, he said, is in direct contrast to something called “the Good News Club.”
