Week 3 fall sports athlete of the week nominees

Vote, sponsored by Athletes Corner, continues through Thursday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian fall sports prep athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Sept. 24.

Athletes may win the honor once in during the regular season and cannot be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Voting will continue until 8 p.m. Thursday, with results announced in Friday’s edition of The Columbian.

BEN GRUHER, UNION BOYS GOLF: Gruher shot a 4-under par 32 at Camas Meadows, including an eagle on No. 9 in a win over Mountain View.

YACINE GUERMALI, CAMAS BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: Guermali posted the top local time at the Nike XC National, finishing sixth in the Danner Championship race in 15:12.

JESSICA LUNCEFORD, HOCKINSON VOLLEYBALL: Lunceford had 17 kills, 20 digs and five aces in two matches for the Hawks.

TARYN RIES, RIDGEFIELD GIRLS SOCCER: Ries had four goals and two assists in a pair of wins for the first-place Spudders.

MAKENA WILCOX, COLUMBIA RIVER GIRLS SWIMMMING: Wilcox swam state-qualifying times in wins in the 50 free and 100 free.
