Vancouver’s Spencer Tibbits has been named the 2016 Oregon Junior Golf Player of the Year.
The junior, who plays for Fort Vancouver High School, started the summer with back-to-back wins at the Oregon Junior Amateur and the Oregon Junior Stroke Play Championships.
Tibbits then reached the round of 16 at the Pacific Northwest Golf Association Junior Boys’ Amateur Championship after finishing second in stroke play qualifying.
Tibbits qualified for the 2016 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship and finished tied for 13th at this year’s Hogan Cup Team Matches, where he helped Oregon win the team title for the first time since 2008.
