Minority citizen groups host candidate forum

A group of minority citizen groups are hosting a candidate forum next week.

The Southwest Washington League of United Latin American Citizens, the local chapter of the NAACP, the Latino Community Resource Group and the League of Minority Voters are joining forces for a forum at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Vancouver Community Library at 901 C St. The forum will focus on issues affecting people of color in Southwest Washington, according to a news release.

The forum will feature candidates from a slew of state and national races.

They include:

• 3rd Congressional District candidate Jim Moeller, Democrat.

• 18th Legislative District Pos. 1 representative candidate Justin Oberg, Democrat, and Pos. 2 candidate Kathy Gillespie, Independent Democrat.

• 18th Legislative District senator candidates Eric Holt, Democrat and Ann Rivers, Republican.

• 49th Legislative District Pos. 1 candidate Sharon Wylie, Democrat, and Pos. 2 candidates Alishia Topper and Monia Stonier, Democrats.

• 49th Legislative District senator candidate Annette Cleveland.

• 17th Legislative District Pos. 1 candidate Sam Kim, Independent Democrat.

• 17th Legislative District senator candidate Tim Probst.

• A representative from U.S. Sen. Patty Murray’s campaign.

Promise King, executive director of the League of Minority Voters, will moderate the debate.
