Washougal Waterfront Park is about to open and residents are invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the Port of Camas-Washougal Park and Trail, 24 S. A St., Washougal.
The port purchased about 13 acres of land at the former Hambleton Lumber mill site in 2012, cleaned it up and developed it into a park, which will have a picnic area, seating and access to the breakwater fishing and transient moorage dock. On the south end of the park is a large concrete compass built into the pavement that looks out on the water. There will also be an 0.8-mile trail.
A reception will follow the ribbon-cutting.
