Ridgefield – Ridgefield students were looking to celebrate hometown spirit, so they organized a carnival.

Experience Ridgefield is set for 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Ridgefield High School, 2630 S. Hillhurst Road. The carnival was organized by the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council, a dozen students representing each of the district’s four schools who meet monthly with Superintendent Nathan McCann to provide advice and feedback.

The carnival will feature a Mr. Potato Head contest, potato sack races, a game truck, laser tag, athletic skills stations, arts and crafts, dance and music performances, and more than 40 vendors.

The Ridgefield Family Resource Center is sponsoring a Stuff the Bus campaign, which seeks personal-hygiene items, nonperishable food and new coats, at the carnival.
