Storm-drain painting postponed to Oct. 2

Vancouver — The Vancouver Watersheds Alliance has postponed the storm drain mural painting project that had been scheduled for Sunday. The new date is Oct. 2.

Forecasts of light rain prompted the nonprofit agency to delay its plan to put volunteer artists to work beautifying Main Street’s storm drains. The art aims to remind people to keep garbage and chemicals — such as motor oil and household cleansers — out of storm drains, which connect with creeks, rivers and oceans.

Visit http://vancouverwatersheds.org or call 360-852-9189 if you’d like to get involved. Downtown Vancouver’s First Friday Art Walk, set for Oct. 7, will feature a self-guided walking tour of all the finished storm drain murals.
