Class teaches about influences of food ads

Brush Prairie – Washington State University Clark County Extension is offering a free class to teach families how to be aware of the influences of food advertising.

The FoodMania Media Literacy class is for children ages 9 to 14 and their parents. Each class will include an interactive lesson for adults and youth, dinner and a $25 grocery store gift card. In addition to education about food advertising, participants will learn how to make healthy eating choices.

Classes will take place 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays from Oct. 5 through Nov. 9 at CASEE, 11104 N.E. 149th St., Brush Prairie. The deadline to sign up for classes is Sept. 30.

Those who are interested in the topic, but unable to make the classes, may be eligible to participate in a survey for $30 in gift cards.
