Running back Marco Cadiz used his speed and elusiveness to gain over 200 all-purpose yards in the first half alone, while his backfield mate Akilotoa Kamatule broke a handful of tackles in rushing for three touchdowns as Bay cruised to a non-league victory.
Cadiz, who also broke up two passes in the defensive backfield, credited his teammates in the trenches on both sides of the ball in helping Bay overcome a tough opening week loss.
“Without those guys, the score is much closer tonight,” he said.
Bay’s defense was just one missed tackle away from a shutout. Senior defensive linemen Sergio Vega, Jared Bacon and Casey Wishon helped bottle up the Rochester running game as well as pressuring the rotation of quarterbacks all evening long.
Bay’s special teams excelled throughout the night as well, as Cadiz and Julio Vara each enjoyed key returns that helped setup a pair of first half touchdowns.
