Troopers are looking for witnesses to a drive-by shooting on state Highway 500 last week that left two men injured.

Richard Chandra, 29, of Vancouver was driving a 1997 Honda Civic coupe east on the highway at about 2 a.m. Sept. 3 when an unknown dark vehicle, also traveling east, passed the vehicle and fired multiple shots at the Honda, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The dark vehicle continued driving and Richard Chandra pulled the vehicle to the right shoulder and called 911, troopers said. His left knee was injured by a bullet and a bullet grazed the back of the head of his passenger, 32-year-old Daniel Chandra of Vancouver, according to the State Patrol.

Both men were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, where they were treated for their injuries, which were described as not life-threatening. Hospital staff said Friday they are no longer at the hospital.

Detectives said that the dark vehicle had been traveling closely behind the Honda before the shooting, which involved at least 10 shots from two different calibers of handguns.

The State Patrol is asking that anyone who witnessed the incident, or individuals who may have information on the shooting, contact Detective Jennifer Ortiz at 360-449-7948 or jennifer.ortiz@wsp.wa.gov.
