Vancouver – Both the northbound and southbound spans of the Interstate 5 Bridge will close on three nights, but not at the same time, from Sept. 14 to 16.
During the closures, workers will inspect the spans, perform general maintenance and electrical work. The sidewalks of each span will stay open.
The closure schedule is as follows:
• The northbound span will close at 11 p.m. Sept. 14, until 6 a.m. Sept. 15. Traffic will exit the freeway at Jantzen Beach. The northbound on-ramp at Victory Boulevard in Portland will also be closed during that period. For access to northbound I-5, drivers will have to use Interstate 84 east to Interstate 205 and north across the Interstate 205 Bridge to Washington.
• The southbound span will close at 10 p.m. Sept. 15, until 5 a.m. Sept. 16. and 10 p.m. Sept. 16, until 8 a.m. Sept. 17. Traffic will be routed off the freeway onto eastbound state Highway 14. The southbound onramp from Highway 14 will be closed. To cross the Columbia River into Oregon, travelers should take state Highway 14 east to southbound I-205 across the Interstate 205 Bridge.
