Portland – With the start of the new school year also comes the opportunity for fourth graders and their families to claim a free Every Kid in a Park Pass.
The pass allows free entry to all federal parks, forests and recreation areas for an entire year.
Starting Sept. 1, fourth-graders can print a voucher for free entry to all federal lands by visiting the Every Kid in a Park Pass website www.everykidinapark.gov. Students and their families can also redeem their paper voucher for a plastic pass at any Forest Service office. The documents are valid until Aug. 31, 2017.
The U.S. Forest Service is working with schools across Washington and Oregon to create Every Kid in a Park events and distribute passes at back-to-school events across the region this fall.
