An outbuilding and three vehicles parked nearby were heavily damaged in an early morning fire about 10 miles north of Camas.

Crews from East County Fire & Rescue were called to the blaze at 9302 N.E. Winters Road at 2:20 a.m. Monday.

When they arrived, they found the building and a nearby pickup, car and minivan all engulfed in fire, ECF&R Deputy Chief Mike Carnes said.

He described the building, located about 200 feet away from the main house, as a travel trailer with a porch added onto it that the homeowner was using as a shop, Carnes said.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control within about 10 minutes, Carnes said. Crews from Camas-Washougal Fire Department and Vancouver Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Crews have remained on scene throughout the morning putting out hot spots, Carnes said, and are waiting for more daylight to do more overhaul.

The homeowner is missing a dog and some cats, Carnes said, but firefighters are still working to determine if they were inside the shop.

The Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
