Nominees for Week 8 fall sports prep athlete of the week

Voting, sponsored by Athletes Corner, continues through Thursday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian fall sports prep athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Oct. 29.

Athletes may win the honor once in during the regular season and cannot be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Voting will continue until 8 p.m. Thursday, with results announced in Friday’s edition of The Columbian.

TESSA DOERFLER, PRAIRIE VOLLEYBALL: Doerfler had 37 digs, 2 aces and 3 assists as the Falcons clinched the 3A GSHL title.

SILAS GRIFFITH, RIDGEFIELD BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: Griffith came from 16th place to place second in the 2A district meet at Lewis River Golf Course.

GUNNER HARLAN, BATTLE GROUND TENNIS: Harlan earned a berth to state by placing second in singles at the 4A bi-district tournament.

NATASHA LEWIS, LA CENTER GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: The freshman posted a 36-second victory to capture the 1A district championship at Lewis River Golf Course.

JENNA TALARICO, HOCKINSON GIRLS SOCCER: Talarico recorded 10 saves in a 1-0 win over Ridgefield, two more, plus two in the PK shootout in a 1-0 win over Black Hills.
