WASHOUGAL — Cory Chase joined the Washougal school board at its Oct. 25 meeting.

Chase is a lieutenant for the Port of Portland Police Department, and has experience in the school district as a parent and volunteer. He succeeds Karen Rubino, who resigned in September after getting a work promotion that will require more travel.

“Our youth are the foundation on which our community is built,” Chase said in a release from the district. “I’m looking forward to serving our community and helping to shape the future of our young people.”

Chase will serve until the next school board election in November 2017.
