Voters in the Woodland school district will have a chance to approve a replacement tax levy to fund educational programs, maintenance and operations.
The district’s board of directors voted to officially put the levy to a vote in a special election on Feb. 14.
The new levy would replace one expiring in 2017.
In the recommended three-year levy presented to the board at a Sept. 26 meeting, the levy rate will be $2.70 in 2018 and 2019, and $2.69 in 2020. That would bring in an estimated $4.5 million to the district in 2018, $4.75 million in 2019 and $5 million in 2020, according to the presentation.
The expiring current levy amount is $2.62 per $1,000 of assessed value, which is down from 2015’s levy rate of $2.76.
The money will be used for course curriculum, classroom technology, additional teaching and support staff, utilities, school safety and emergency preparedness, student health, transportation, facilities maintenance and repairs and extracurricular activities, according to a release from the district.
“We plan to maintain Woodland Public Schools’ reputation for providing an excellent education for our students while maintaining strict fiscal responsibility,” Woodland Superintendent Michael Green said in the same release.
“We believe Woodland’s citizens recognize the high quality of student learning taking place in the communities, and will continue their tradition of commitment to the ongoing success of Woodland’s schools by approving this levy,” Green said.
