A 27-year-old man accused of robbing a Vancouver gas station at gunpoint Wednesday night made a first appearance in Clark County Superior Court.

Robert M. Blevins of Vancouver appeared Thursday on suspicion of second-degree robbery and first-degree criminal impersonation.

Vancouver police were dispatched to a robbery in progress just before 9 p.m. at the Shell Station, 4905 N.E. 94th Ave. An armed man wearing a black stocking cap demanded that the clerk give him $400 from the register. He only got about $60, however, and then ran off west of the station, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Police contacted a man matching the suspect’s description on the north side of Vancouver Mall. He provided a false name and birthdate, the affidavit states.

The man, later identified as Blevins, was detained and consented to a search. Police found his wallet, which contained his identification and $84 in cash. He also had a black stocking cap in his back pocket, court records said. A records check showed Blevins had a DOC warrant.

On Thursday, Judge David Gregerson appointed Blevins an attorney and set his bail at $75,000.

He will be arraigned Nov. 10.
