Sheriff’s deputies detained two people following a report of someone firing a handgun at a passing car Tuesday morning in Orchards.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded a report of gunfire around 10:40 a.m. at the 7300 block of Northeast 159th Avenue. A caller said he saw a neighbor shooting at a blue sedan driving by the neighbor’s house.

The caller said the shooter then hopped in a black Chevrolet Corvette and followed the blue car, according to the sheriff’s office.

About 10 minutes later, a Vancouver police officer spotted a matching Corvette stopped on Fourth Plain Boulevard.

Officers, with weapons drawn, approached and detained both the driver and a passenger near the Wendy’s at Northeast 162nd Avenue and 18th Street. The two were still being questioned Tuesday afternoon, the sheriff’s office said.

No injuries were reported. As of early Tuesday afternoon, the occupants of the blue sedan had not been contacted, nor had they reported the incident, according to the sheriff’s office.

Law enforcement recovered several shell casings and a handgun, the sheriff’s office said, but the investigation was ongoing.
