Washougal – Back in the spring, students from Gause Elementary School planted pumpkin seeds in a garden near city hall, and now the students are coming back to pick them up.
They’ll do so as part of the Downtown Washougal Pumpkin Harvest Festival, which is 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Reflection Plaza, 1703 Main St., Washougal.
Local families are invited to wear their Halloween costume to the festival, in which guests will receive a free pumpkin.
In addition to the 100 planted by Gause students, the city will hand out another 600, which the city received thanks to a donation from Triple C Auto Brokers.
A “Halloween Hunt” also will send families to local business to look for iconic Halloween images, carnival games and, of course, plenty of candy. The event is free and will take place rain or shine.
