A man robbed an Umpqua Bank branch in Hazel Dell on Monday afternoon then escaped in a van.

The robbery, at 8015 N.E. Highway 99, was reported shortly before 3 p.m.

Clark County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Craig Randall said a man entered the bank and demanded money, but no weapon was seen during the incident.

The man left heading north on Highway 99 in an older, blue-gray van with Oregon license plates. Emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian indicated that a woman was driving the vehicle.

Randall said investigators recovered some grainy surveillance video about an hour later and had a few digits of the plate, but that investigation was ongoing.

No one was hurt.
