One person who stopped in a traffic lane on state Highway 503 for a downed tree north of Battle Ground was injured Saturday when he and his vehicle were struck from behind by an approaching pickup, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The crash occurred at 3:19 p.m. near Milepost 15 when a 2003 Ford Ranger pickup driven by Grant W. Kaski, 16, of Battle Ground came around a corner and crashed into an unoccupied 2001 Jeep Cherokee that was stopped in the southbound traffic lane in front of a downed tree.

The person injured, identified only as an unknown male, was behind the Jeep and also struck, according to the WSP. No information was available on his condition Saturday night.

The crash remained under investigation late Saturday.
