Derrick Brown, Evergreen Public School’s chief information officer, was selected by the U.S. Department of Education to speak at a summit this month.

The federal agency’s Office of Educational Technology invited Brown to speak at the Future Ready Schools Summit on Oct. 24 in Seattle.

Brown will address Evergreen’s two-year technology upgrade from outdated machines to tablet-based technology, as well as the district’s overhauled technological infrastructure.

This year, seven Evergreen schools are being converted to Innovation Centers, meaning each student will have a digital device for classroom use. The remaining schools will be converted next year.
