Nominees for Week 5 fall sports prep athlete of the week

Weekly vote, sponsored by Athletes Corner, continues through Thursday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian fall sports prep athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Oct. 8.

Athletes may win the honor once in during the regular season and cannot be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Voting will continue until 8 p.m. Thursday, with results announced in Friday’s edition of The Columbian.

LAYNIE ERICKSON, LA CENTER VOLLEYBALL: Erickson had 31 kills, 33 digs and 10 aces in 2 league wins and helped the Wildcats go 9-1 in the Lumberjill Invite.

DYLAN HENRY, UNION BOYS GOLF: Henry shot an even-par 36 and 1-under 36 in two league wins.

EMILY PHELPS, FORT VANCOUVER GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: Phelps placed second at the Ash Creek Invitational (19:42) and won a league dual.

SRUTHI RAVI, MOUNTAIN VIEW GIRLS SWIMMING: Ravi won the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly at the Kelso Invitational.

ELLIE WALKER, COLUMBIA RIVER GIRLS SOCCER: Walker had three goals and two assists in two league wins for the Chieftains.
