Mountain View’s Glen Perry returned the opening kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown that took just 12 seconds off the clock at Schroeder Field.

Mountain View pulled out to a three-score lead at the break over the next 24 minutes. The Thunder then held off a late charge from the Hilanders to seal a 27-14 victory Friday and gain the edge to the Greater St. Helens 3A League title.

A 20-0 deficit to Mountain View (3-3, 2-0 league) just 14 minutes into the game proved insurmountable, despite Kelso’s best efforts.

For Mountain View, quarterback Andre Scheer rushed for 82 yards and threw for 118 while Darien Chase had six catches for 81 yards and Perry had 66 yards on nine carries.
