The Vancouver Police Department will host an informational meeting for potential new hires and curious would-be police officers Oct. 15 at its East Precinct building.

The meeting starts at 10 a.m. at 520 S.E. 155th Ave. and will cover the hiring process for entry-level officers or officers interested in moving from another agency.

In the last several months, the number of budgeted officer slots available to the department has grown from 190 to 208. As with many law enforcement agencies around the country, the department has been competing for new hires as the pool of recruits dwindles.

People can contact Sgt. Dave Henderson at 360-487-7454 or dave.henderson@cityofvancouver.us for more information.
