The girlfriend of a Vancouver man charged in multiple robberies and a shooting in Hazel Dell is accused of helping him carry out the crimes.

Ashley M. Ashton, 17, appeared Friday in Clark County Superior Court on suspicion of two counts of first-degree rendering criminal assistance involving a firearm and two counts of first-degree robbery. The Vancouver girl’s case is being handled in Superior Court because of her age and the nature of the allegations.

Her boyfriend, 19-year-old Cocaya S. Thomas, is charged with attempted second-degree murder, three counts of first-degree robbery and three counts possession of a stolen firearm between three cases.

He is accused of robbing a 17-year-old boy of a firearm, and using it to rob two 16-year-old boys of a designer belt Aug. 12. He is also accused of firing shots during an altercation with a man in the 5900 block of Hazel Dell Avenue four days later, according to court records.

Ashton was present and drove Thomas to and from the robberies and was also the driver involved in the shooting incident, a probable cause affidavit states.

On Friday, Judge David Gregerson appointed her an attorney and set bail at $50,000. She will be arraigned Wednesday.
