The boy critically injured Thursday when an SUV hit him as he attempted to cross East Mill Plain Boulevard remained in critical condition Friday evening.
Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said the 15-year-old Hudson’s Bay High School student was in a hospital’s intensive care unit. She said investigators still don’t think speeding or driver impairment factored into the crash.
The teen was on his bike when he attempted to cross Mill Plain near Hudson’s Bay High School around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
Investigators said it appeared he didn’t activate the walk signal, the police said. An SUV on Mill Plain was unable to stop and struck the boy as he rode out into the crosswalk.
