As I write this column late Wednesday afternoon it is raining cats and dogs with water running curb to curb. Yep, I think we have entered our annual rainy season a bit early this year. More rain on the way tonight and Friday with breezy conditions.
There is a silver lining in all these clouds however as high pressure will follow the next incoming storm. This brings sunshine and mild weather back to us. High temperatures will inch into the 70s Saturday through Monday.
So this weekend will be ideal to make the annual trek to the pumpkin patch and bring home those orange gems to test the artistic abilities of carvers and artists for the Halloween festivities. The fields may be a bit muddy so bring the old shoes or boots. Sunday and Monday would be the best as things dry out.
Meanwhile in the upper elevations, snow has been falling and when skies clear Saturday afternoon and Sunday you will see some new whitecaps on the Cascade peaks. The snow mainly stuck above six or seven thousand feet so a narrow ring will be showing on Mount St. Helens and a broader cap on Mount Hood.
