The Camas-Washougal Community Chest aims to raise $75,000 for nonprofits serving east Clark County residents.
For the 2015/2016 season, the chest dispersed 19 grants totaling $72,500 that benefited 18 nonprofits: Inter-Faith Treasure House, Children’s Home Society of Washington, Friends of the Camas Community Center, Camas Children’s Fund, Washougal Children’s Fund, Janus Youth Programs, Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership, Meals on Wheels, Friends and Foundation of the Camas Library, Friends of the Columbia Gorge, REACH Community Development, Camas Farmers Market, Camas Athletics Booster Club, New Day Community Dental Clinic, Opera Quest Northwest, Pathways Pregnancy Clinic, Camas/Washougal Boy Scouts troops and student exchange programs through Camas’ sister cities in Japan and Poland.
Those grants served an estimated 15,000 people.
The chest seeks donations, which can be made at www.camaswashougalcommunitychest.org or via Fred Meyer’s Community Rewards program or Amazon Smile. Eligible nonprofits can apply for a 2016-2017 grant through the website after Oct. 15. The application deadline is Dec. 15.
