The Washington Poison Center is now the owner and curator of the statewide medication return website.

The poison center has updated the website, www.takebackyourmeds.org, to include an interactive map of take-back locations across the state. The map differentiates between locations that accept controlled and non-controlled substances.

The poison center will also incorporated Take Back Your Meds into existing statewide education outreach programs and harm reduction efforts.

Currently, pharmaceutical substances account for about half of all exposure calls to the Washington Poison Center. Poisoning/overdose remains the No. 1 cause of unintentional death in Washington and the U.S.
