Vancouver churches host AIDS day event

Vancouver Heights United Methodist Church and Metropolitan Community Church of the Gentle Shepherd will recognize World AIDS Day by holding an event 7 p.m. Wednesday. The church is at 5701 MacArthur Blvd. in Vancouver.

Speakers include Vicki Smith, who heads Martha’s Pantry, a food pantry for those with HIV and AIDS, and Cornel Brisc of Walgreens pharmacy in Uptown Village. He will debunk HIV myths. Other organizations have been invited to participate. And, there will be a candle-lighting ceremony.
