Mount Hood Meadows anticipates Friday opening

Mount Hood Meadows says it anticipates operating a limited number of chairlifts as early as Friday.

Several feet of snow are forecast to fall, according to the National Weather Service.

“As soon as we get enough depth we’ll get snowcats on the hill to prep trails for a possible opening Friday,’’ said Dave Tragethon, vice president of communications. “Just how many lifts and how much of the mountain will be open is dependent on how much snow we receive and when we receive it.’’

Tragethon said if the storm delivers its full potential, it is likely Meadows will continue daily operations for the season.

Timberline Lodge is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily operating Bruno’s and Palmer chairlifts.

Mount Hood Skibowl is not open yet. The area reports 2 to 4 inches of snow as of Tuesday night.
