How Clark County football players fared, Nov. 19

It’s playoff time for a handful of college football players from Clark County.

Five local players on Eastern Oregon’s roster got to take part in a historic day for that program.

Eastern Oregon collected its first postseason win, traveling to Nebraska to beat Doane University 34-28 in the first round of the NAIA Playoffs.

John Payne, a redshirt senior cornerback from Camas High, returned a kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown. He also recovered a fumble and had two tackles for loss.

Zach Lacey, a sophomore from Woodland High, started at nose tackle and had one tackle.

Jorden Payne (Camas) also saw action. Marcus Hansen (Mountain View) and Will Ephraim (Camas) are also on the roster.

Eastern Oregon travels to Indianapolis on Saturday for a quarterfinal game against No. 1 ranked Marian University.

Linfield also won a playoff game, traveling to Abeline, Texas to beat Hardin-Simmons 24-10 in the NCAA Division-III playoffs.

Mountain View grad Will Warne kicked a 43-yard field goal and made all three of his extra points. Skyview’s Matt Mateo is also on Linfield’s roster.

The Wildcats travel to Texas again Saturday for a second-round game against Mary Hardin-Baylor.
