Timberline Lodge will open for the winter on a limited basis beginning Saturday, with plans to operate Bruno’s chairlift along with the high-elevation Palmer chairlift.

Bruno’s will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., while Palmer will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Palmer is recommended only for advanced skiers and snowboard riders.

The two chairs will operate through Thanksgiving weekend, weather and snow conditions permitting.

The ski area reports 10 inches of snow at the lodge.

Mount Hood Meadows reports 9 inches of snow at its base and 12 inches at mid-mountain, not quite enough to run the chairlifts.

Meadows is planning a Pray for Snow event from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

The ski area’s restaurants and retail stores will be open. A snowshoe demonstration will be offered from noon to 3 p.m. Snow harvested from the parking lot will be used to create a rail park adjacent to Daisy chairlift and will be open from 3 to 7 p.m.

A party with music begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $10 online and $15 at the door for ages 21 and older.
