Clark volleyball remains alive at NWAC championship

A tough loss was followed by a close victory Friday, and the Clark College volleyball team remained alive at the NWAC Championship in Tacoma.

The Penguins fell to Walla Walla 3-2 in the winner’s bracket, but then eliminated Highline 2-0 in the loser-out bracket.

Walla Walla held off Clark 21-25, 25-16, 25-22, 27-29, 15-13.

Livia Strandberg had 23 kills and 27 digs for Clark. Gauleighyan Eastman had 40 assists, Courtney Misner had 32 digs, Kendra Padden 23 digs, Sierra Mayberry 10 kills, and Allyson Crisp 12 blocks.

Clark beat Highline 25-23, 25-22.

Strandberg had 10 kills, Eastman 17 assists, and Olivia Jacoshenk 12 assists.

Clark will face South region foe Umpqua at 10 a.m. Saturday in another loser-out match. Clark won both meetings against Umpqua during the season.

The winner of that match will play again at 11:45 a.m. Clark would need four wins Saturday to reach Sunday’s championship match. (Click here for the bracket)
