Woodland — Third-graders at Woodland Intermediate School were treated to a five-course meal as they learned proper table manners and how to use a full set of dining utensils. The students participated in the school’s annual Fine Dining Event sponsored by Sodexo Dining Services, which provides food services to the district. Jennifer Crosby’s class was selected by teachers for the honor based off their exemplary cafeteria behavior so far this year. Lan Ha, director of food services for Woodland, organized the event and visited the class the day before the meal to teach the students proper table manners, appropriate meal conversation topics, how to sit and how to use a variety of silverware. High school students taking Culinary Arts with Kimberly Miller helped prepare the meal, which consisted of cream of pumpkin soup with cardamom cream and cinnamon crisps, a pear, endive and cranberry fruit salad with minted honey dressing, crispy chicken breast with Italian cheese and ham with pan-roasted fall root vegetables and potatoes, and caramel apple cider dumplings with maple cream for dessert.
