Firefighters fit students for coats

Lake Shore — Firefighters from Clark County Fire District 6 visited Eisenhower Elementary School on Oct. 28 to fit kids for jackets as part of Operation Warmth, a national effort from members of International Firefighters Association 1805 to provide free jackets to children. On average, Fire District 6 gives away more than 100 coats each year to students at Eisenhower, Hazel Dell Elementary School and Sarah J. Anderson Elementary School. “Operation Warm is a fantastic program and definitely needed in our community,” Jessica Bodell, Eisenhower’s school counselor, said in a release from the fire district. “When kids are warm, they can focus better on school, which helps their grades and their self-esteem.”
