Battle Ground – Battle Ground Public Schools will host a public forum Wednesday to hear input about how the district spends money collected from its operation and maintenance levy.

The forum starts at 6 p.m. in Room C-26 at the Lewisville campus, 406 N.W. 5th Ave., Battle Ground.

Battle Ground’s levy expires on Dec. 31, 2017, according to a news release. The school board will consider at an upcoming meeting whether to put a replacement levy on the Feb. 14 ballot.

The current levy covers 23 percent of the district’s operating budget. The 2016 levy rate for property owners is $3.66 per $1,000 of assessed value.

The levy pays for basic services, including textbooks, curricula, staff salaries and transportation.
