Nominees for Week 9 fall sports prep athlete of the week

Voting, sponsored by Athletes Corner, continues through Thursday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian fall sports prep athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Nov. 5.

Athletes may win the honor once in during the regular season and cannot be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Voting will continue until 8 p.m. Thursday, with results announced in Friday’s edition of The Columbian.

SYDNEY BOYLE, COLUMBIA RIVER SWIMMING: The freshman won the District 4 title in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke and she was also on two winning relays.

SAVANNA CRAIG, MOUNTAIN VIEW GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: Craig placed fourth in the 3A girls state meet in 18:14.

KAYLA FREDRICKS, WOODLAND VOLLEYBALL: Fredericks had 38 kills and 45 digs in three matches at the district tournament as the Beavers clinched a state berth.

YACINE GUERMALI, CAMAS BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: Guermali won the 4A individual state championship by seven seconds in a time of 15:12.

AIMEE KURFURST, PRAIRIE GIRLS SOCCER: Kurfurst scored all three goals in the Falcons’ 3-0 win over Yelm that sent Prairie to state.
