A rider was launched from his motorcycle Thursday afternoon when his bike collided with an oncoming SUV as it turned in front of him, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Julie M. Schroeder, 54, of Helix, Ore., was heading west on state Highway 14 in her 2015 Ford Edge that afternoon. Around 3:30 p.m., 2 miles west of North Bonneville, she went to turn left.

She pulled in front of Stevenson’s Mark R. Puntigam, 53, was heading east on his motorcycle, the state patrol said, and the two collided.

The state patrol said Puntigam was ejected in the crash. Puntigam and Schroeder were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for their injuries.

The state patrol said Schroeder’s failure to yield the right of way caused the crash, and she was cited for second-degree negligent driving.

Their conditions were not available. Both vehicles were totaled, according to the state patrol.
