Ridgefield — The first John McKibbin Legacy Classic Golf Tournament was held Aug. 29 at the Tri-Mountain Golf Course, and on Oct. 24, organizers donated more than $24,000 in proceeds to three local organizations: Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center’s Child Abuse Assessment Endowment Fund, Pearson Field Education Center and Leadership Clark County. Each nonprofit received a check for $8,078. McKibbin, a former elected official and head of Identity Clark County, died on March 23 in a private plane crash on the Columbia River. Columbia Credit Union served as the presenting sponsor of the tournament. “John had the get-up-and-go that will never be matched by anyone,” James Oneil, tournament director, said in a release from Columbia Credit Union. “He was driven to bring out the beauty of Clark County and influence the necessary progress needed for generations to come.”
