Five Corners — At the May meeting of Clark County Quilters, the group presented a check to the Evergreen School District’s Students in Transition program, which works with students who are homeless or otherwise at risk.

The $6,702 check was for the group’s 2016 Opportunity Quilt, titled “Celebrate Our Beautiful Land,” which featured panels praising American images like a bald eagle, mountains and the flag.

Each year, the organization selects an Opportunity Quilt to sell to benefit a local organization, which applies to be part of the program.

The 2017 quilt is titled “Birds of a Feather” and will benefit Silver Star Search & Rescue.
