Week 9 spring sports prep athlete of the week nominees

Weekly vote, sponsored by Athletes Corner, continues through Thursday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian spring sports prep athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending May 21.

Voting will continue until 8 p.m. Thursday, with results announced in Friday’s edition of The Columbian.

AMILA GOGALIJA, MOUNTAIN VIEW GIRLS TENNIS: Gogalija rallied to win the 4A district singles title, then swept to a bi-district win.

JAI’LYN MERRIWEATHER, UNION GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD: Merriweather won the 400 meters in the 4A bi-district meet by three seconds.

ADAM RYAN, CAMAS BOYS TRACK AND FIELD: Ryan won the 400 meters and placed second in the 800 meters in the 4A bi-district meet.

KALLIE SAKAMOTO, WASHOUGAL GIRLS GOLF: Sakamoto won the 2A district tournament by 15 shots over her closest rival.

PAIGE STINSON, LA CENTER SOFTBALL: Stinson went 5 for 9 with three runs, a double and two RBI as the Wildcats won the 1A district title.
