Battle Ground police are investigating after a pickup crashed into a garage door and then continued on to strike six vehicles parked at the Chief Umtuch Middle-Captain Strong Primary schools complex Friday morning.

A resident in the 100 block of Northwest Ninth Street called 911 just before 10 a.m. to report that a pickup truck had pulled into a driveway, struck the garage door and driven away, Battle Ground Police Department spokeswoman Bonnie Gilberti said.

Additional 911 callers reported that the truck then struck a pole on the street before hitting six cars in the staff parking lot shared by Chief Umtuch and Captain Strong, 700 N.W. Ninth St., Gilberti said.

Police and fire personnel arrived at the scene and had to cut the driver out of the damaged pickup.

The driver, Janet Williams, 73, of Battle Ground, was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Her condition was not available.

No one else was injured.

Gilberti said that police are not yet sure if there was a medical emergency or if other factors were at play, though they are continuing their investigation.
